If you saw our last show, Bad Dates, like me you probably wondered what other Theresa Rebeck shows you could see. Well, oddly enough, today as I was skimming entertainment news her name popped up. Ms. Rebeck has had a new television pilot picked up by NBC. Called Smash, the pilot was written by Rebeck and is being developed and produced by Steven Spielberg. That's not too shabby! The shows is said to follow the creation of a Marilyn Monroe musical on Broadway. Debra Messing (Will & Grace) and Anjelica Huston (The Royal Tennenbaums) are set to star. The music for the fake show was written by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, the guys who scored the currently running musical Catch Me If You Can.
I kind of love that Rebeck is getting her big fat TV paycheck now for writing about her love - the stage.
Glee for grownups? That I might watch. How about you?
